Working with PIWIs, the fungus-resistant varieties, is of particular importance to wine producer Roland Lenz. Lenz has become a real master in the vinification of varieties such as Solaris, Maréchal Foch and Regent. He combines these varieties with the local classics, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Some of the grapes are dried and some of the wine is aged in barriques. In this way, he creates wines that inspire not only new customers but juries too. The wine magazine “Vinum” named Weingut Lenz “Organic Vineyard of the Year”, and Roland and Karin Lenz repeatedly bring home medals from the international PIWI-competition.
