Trailblazing wines from Switzerland
The vineyard of Roland and Karin Lenz is located near Iselisberg in the municipality of Uesslingen in the canton of Thurgau. No other vineyard in German-speaking Switzerland has more hectares under organic cultivation and this is the only one where they follow the demanding Delinat guidelines, which they meet in an exemplary manner.
Working with PIWIs, the fungus-resistant varieties, is of particular importance to wine producer Roland Lenz. Lenz has become a real master in the vinification of varieties such as Solaris, Maréchal Foch and Regent. He combines these varieties with the local classics, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Some of the grapes are dried and some of the wine is aged in barriques. In this way, he creates wines that inspire not only new customers but juries too. The wine magazine “Vinum” named Weingut Lenz “Organic Vineyard of the Year”, and Roland and Karin Lenz repeatedly bring home medals from the international PIWI-competition.
