High flyer Chardonnay

Chardonnay is the world’s most successful white grape variety because among other things it is adaptable. Impressive wines of the milder variety with plenty of body are produced from it in many places. The spectrum of aromas ranges from citrus through apple to exotic fruits.

Also typical are notes of butter and – following barrique-ageing – smoke or vanilla. Burgundy is considered to be the most famous region for the cultivation of Chardonnay. Worldwide interest in these distinctive wines is great, so the prices are correspondingly high.

Too much of a good thing

“ABC drinkers” is the term used for the primarily American wine-lovers who select wine according to the principle of “Anything but Chardonnay”. The reason for their aversion lies in a Chardonnay produced in the nineties, which is often very overblown and high in alcohol and which primarily comes from the wine regions of the New World. Times past.

In the Delinat range, you will find a large number of fresh, mineral Chardonnay wines with a subtle note of wood. They offer lots of drinking pleasure at moderate prices. The fact that they also come from vineyards that have an outstanding variety of flora and fauna is an extra bonus. Sparkling Chardonnay

The Chardonnay grape plays an important role in the production of sparkling wines, not only in Champagne but also in other regions of the country. Chardonnay can shine not only on its own but also in combination with other varieties, such as in the Delmas Cuvée des Sacres Brut, a Crémant de Limoux, which can also be found in the Delinat range. Pinot Noir and Chenin Blanc also come into play in this case.
