Cabernet Sauvignon - a welcome partner

The area surrounding Bordeaux is the heartland of Cabernet Sauvignon cuvées including Merlot and Cabernet Franc. This so-called Bordeaux blend finds its imitators in many places. In other regions, they also like to blend Cabernet Sauvignon with local grape varieties thanks to its structure and character. Fascinating blends emerge in many places with Sangiovese, Tempranillo or Syrah.

Cabernet Sauvignon wines are often tannic, they smell and taste of concentrated fruity notes and toasty aromas, the latter as a result of barrique-ageing. These properties make Cabernet Sauvignon the ideal accompaniment for grilled beef or lamb. If you prefer to avoid meat, aubergine gratin, stews or hearty mushroom dishes are good alternatives.
